Webmaster and Newsletter Editor - Angela Turner

Angela has just finished writing up her PhD which looks at the history of learning disability in Glasgow since 1945. Areas of interest include the history of special education, social work, community care and voluntary organisations. She is also involved in oral history and the use of inclusive research methodologies using 'life story' approaches with people with learning disabilities. Angela’s has run a gymnastics club for both children and adults with disabilities in Glasgow for the last 10 years and am currently the Men's GMPD (Gymnastics and Movement for People with Disabilities) British National Coach. Additionally she has been heavily involved in the history of health research community in Glasgow and organised the International Postgraduate Conference for the SSHM in 2005. She is currently working on a contemporary study which looks at Physical Activity/Inactivity amongst People with Learning Disabilities in Glasgow at the School of Health and Social Care in Glasgow Caledonian University.
